Almost a century ago, Don Victor Navajas Centeno had a vision to take advantage of the lands of the estancia “Las Marías”, located in the Argentine province of Corrientes, to start his first mate plantation. He was surely inspired by the proximity of the Paraná jungle where the Guaraníes were already making and consuming mate.
After establishing his farm in Las Marías, Don Víctor decided to take charge of the entire maté production process, from the seed to the packaging. In the way, he was able to control and guarantee the quality of the maté right from the start.
Thus, in 1940, the Taragüi yerba mate was put on the market, quickly becoming a reference for connoisseurs.
Today, Las Marías stands out as the most important producer of mate in the world.
